What's a Beauty Product you CAN'T live without?
July 31st 2007 03:44
Ladies, I don’t think I’m alone in saying that our bathroom can use some spring cleaning every now and then. The condition of my bathroom has sparked many a domestic fight. When my husband returns anything of mine, he’ll open the door slightly, ensuring he keeps his head averted and throw whatever he borrowed in the general direction of the sink, like one would throw food in the cage of a feral pet. I didn’t realise he had a habit of doing this until I got hit by a bottle of Domestos at the back of my head.
The question is always “How much gunk can you put in one room?” And by gunk, I mean the litter of beauty/costmetic/spa/feminine products on the surface of the counter and spilling out of the cabinets. While I only ever use a cleanser and moisturiser as part of my daily beauty regime, I can’t seem to part with any of the other bathroom products I’ve hoarded in the past years (yes, years!) including the little shampoo bottles you’d get from various hotels around the world.
When I complained about my husband’s lack of understanding about the state of my bathroom to a friend, she snapped, “Women store too much crap these days. You should look at what you have and ask yourself what products you can’t live without.”
For the sake of this post, I’ll take this advice one step further. If a fire broke out in your bathroom, what is that one product you will take with you?
For me, it would be Olay Total Effects Moisturiser. This is the only product I remember running out of and instead of waiting until the next day, I found myself driving around in my pyjamas at midnight, looking for an open supermarket and even bribing an employee.
So, what’s yours?

I love you've used Klimt for this post, gave me a good laugh. I'm a bit lazy for a whole beauty regimne, but I think my faves are foundation and lippystick. Oh yes and moisteriser, like you Olay Total Effects Moisturiser and Sorbolene cream for the rest of the body. If the truth be known, I have a hand moisturising obsession, ah well,

My must have would probably be my sorbolene cream. Only because I have really dry skin and have to moisturise my hands about 25 times a day. And in a pinch, I could use it on my face if I wasn't also allowed to grab my Dermalogica facial moisturiser. I have a general moisturising obsession.
And if I couldn't find those two items, it would be my eyebrow pencil. My eyebrows are so fair I have to pencil them in every day. And my tinted moisturiser.
Are you sure I can only grab one thing?

I use Redwin Sorbelene Moisturiser and I've been told that it has an addictive ingredient (as does Vaseline Intensive care lotion that I used to used before) but somehow I moved across to this one and it lasts longer and is more economical. Hence, I have ended up with an obsession like I have. I have other scented soothing hand creams as gifts but this one works the best and I use the other for special occasions. But I am happy so I don’t worry too much.
Kylie: I feel in good company with your dedication to hand cream. The way I see it when I'm a hundred and five, my hands will look youthful. Sometimes it does make getting doors opens slightly slithery though. Oh well. As Popeye said, I can what I am. and I'm glad I 'm in good company
It seems there are a few things I can live without, oooppsie..

Me?, I just can't go past that old commercial - I can't get by without my MUM!
True story. I wonder how many others know of it and what it represents.

I don't really have a Dermalogica moisturiser that I use but it has been something that I have been helping on for my face. Is there you recommend?

I get nervous if I'm running out and I don't have a spare. At the moment, I have 3 massive pump packs spare in my bathroom. Obsessive much?

I used to be completely obsessive by Vaseline Intensive Care for Dry Skin but for some reason I moved across to Sorbolene. Now I have one in the lounge, by my bed and in the bathroom. Yeppie, I'm obsessed, glad to have some company CC

Wanna know what I can't live without? If my bathroom was on fire, I'd grab my hair dye.
Seriously. And the blow dryer. Deodorant, hair gel, shampoo, body wash, they can all be replaced. My hair dye? I'm supposed to pay for it myself, so no thanks! I'll keep that around. And the blow dryer. I so need it!
Oh man. That makes me sound like such a ditz. But seriously.I don't even keep my eyeliner or my makeup in the bathroom, so I'm not worried about that. But if I lost my hair dye?
That's twenty bucks down the friggin toilet!

Sorbolene! That's it! I remember using Sorbolene ages ago and thinking it was really good, then I got sucked into all these other fragrant moisturisers - mainly The Body Shop. They said that you can even use sorbolene as a cleanser as well. Which Dermalogica moisturiser do you use? I used the Skin Smoothing before - I found it really good but scrapped it because of the price for such a small tube.
was in response to Kylie - DOH! But you and Kylie and Lara have sold me on Sorbolene. I haven't used it in years so I'll definitely check it out next time.

Katyzzz - Mum's deodorants are the only ones I use. You're right, I can't live by without my mum - even though it sometimes leaves white marks on your black clothes (she nags).
Chic - ok, I am passing the Obsessed trophy onto you. And I thought I was obsessed with certain products
Louie - I have yet to try that - going on beauty products site and asking for freebies for my blog's sake
Dianna - hehehe...I never would have thought that was the one thing a girl could NOT live without.

... for me it's loads of water (to wash and drink)... followed by moisturiser - massage oils usually - I just love them all and their purity from chemicals.
...that's about it.

I wasn't blessed with clear skin, and I'm not talkin zits.
It's those annoying red spots beneath the surface of your skin that looks like acne.
Grrrrrrr.
