Hair Dye-Loreal Color Pulse, part 1
July 8th 2007 10:43
(Now I feel like a n00b)
First, let me say hello. I'm the newbie here. I'm naturally blonde, so the dye actually shows. I also have *le gasp* normal hair. (A bit fine and a bit thick...sadly...) Or, at least, close to normal. I look really bad with blonde hair. In the past two years I've spent $82 or thereabouts on dye BEFORE taxes-probably comes out to about $100 total.
Chill Plum was my first L'Oreal dying. I had used some Garnier dye I can't remember for a beautiful red effect before, but never L'Oreal. It was also the first type I did myself.
The previews on the side of the container show it very purple and fairly dark. It's not really recommended for my hair colour, if I remember right. Which is, perhaps, why it turned out horribly. It wasn't purple. It was reddish purplish. I used it 4 or 5 times throughout its life. All of those times, it did absolutely nothing for me.
Color Pulse isn't the bad thing; it's just certain colours. I found the mousse wonderfully easy to use (all my permanent dye attempts... died...), and it can be used again, a big plus for someone with short hair like mine. It can make your hair pretty dry if you use it too regularly (I used it three times the night before grad... and wow, just wow.) It lasts about 4 washes at full colour, and if you're lucky you'll have a tinge of whatever colour for some time.
Chill Plum's problem is probably that it's not strong enough or some other such thing. Whatever it is, it was only purple as mousse, not in the hair.
The other one I'll review today is Electric Night, the one for dark hair. I dyed my hair brown first (more on that later). Electric night is supposed to be a wonderfully dark and shiny black. Well, um, it's not.
Electric black looks more like what Chill Plum is supposed to be. It's purple. Black-ish purple, but still purple. I know. I used it. My hair was nightmarishly ugly, and I actually purposely washed it twice so that it was slightly less visible. Actually, a lot less visible. Electric Night fades quicker than most of the other ones.
It takes just a couple bad experiences to tell you all you need to know about a type of dye. While I've also had good experiences with Colour Pulse, I'm keeping my eyes out for another reuable dye. The product line isn't bad itself, but some of the colours just don't work.
In part 2 I'll be covering Espresso Shot (gotta love these names) and Something Copper. Can't remember it too well.

I already read the other tips, and found them rather useless.

its because the peroxide in hair dye does not take away the phaeomelanin (red-ish to blond-ish shades) it only takes away the dark from your hair
