How to Treat Hyperpigmentation Naturally

May 6th 2010 18:43
Eventually, we all are going to get it . Ueven skin, and brown pigmented skin that are otherwise known as age spots are just one of those things.. There are some good possibilities that will help you treat hyperpigmentation without having to spend money on laser skin treatment or even go to a dermatologist. In this article, I intend to show you some possibilities to treat hyperpigmentation issues.

So What is Hyperpigmentation?

Basically, the age spots and liver spots you see, which is very common by the way, are the result of too much melanin in your skin. Melanin is what makes us "brown" and gives our skin color. When we are young, our bodies are able to evenly distribute melanin resulting in even skin tone. As we age, we produce melanin less effectively and we don't produce enough sebum that produces new skin cells, which also means we carry a lot more dead skin cells the older we get. These spots can become more pronounced if exposed to the sun.

How to Remove these Spots....

Hyperpigmented skin doesn't have to be something you will have to live with. There are ways to fix it. . If you go to a dermatologist, chances are they are going to use a professional grade acid peel to lift the dead skin first. If "cost" is a problem, there are other alternatives. An alternative that many women use is to take over the counter skin whitening products to help even out skin tone If used in tandem with an skin exfoliator such as a glycolic acid face peel, then the results will be more pronounced.

Even Skin tone by stopping Melanin Production...a couple natural options...

10 years ago, if you were to look at a skin whitener's ingredients, you would find that the most likely ingredient would be hydroquinone. Hydroquinone basically inhibits melanin by interfering with a substance called tyrosinase, which catalyze melanin production in our bodies. It has been outlawed in virtually every country in the world, save the United States There are some very good skin lightening creams though that can produce the same results as creams with hydroquinone. Alpha Arbutin, a substance found in a weed in Canada, is one of them. They work because they "mimic" the effects of hydroquinone and the body doesn't know the difference..

One word of warning...

While most skin whiteners are safe, they all contain chemicals that will dry the skin. The reason is that many skin whitening ingredients can aggravate sensitive skin. Also, although natural creams containing things like Alpha Arbutin seems to be a safe alternative to hydroquinone, understand that it is still fairly new to the cosmetic world and therefore the risks haven't been fully assessed.

Exfoliate and diminish hyperpigmented skin even more

While skin whitening creams can work by themselves, sometimes the better option is to add something that exfoliates the skin. Adding a weekly glycolic acid peel at home could produce clearer, younger looking skin . In addition to this, there are some face products that you can use daily as well for clearer skin and help even out skin tone. For example, you could use a kojic acid soap. Totally safe for daily use.
