Philosophy Shower Gels - To Smell like Food
June 21st 2006 04:31
Of all the ridiculous products that cram our shelves right now. Of all the gimmicks that try to pry our hungry hands away from our hard earned cash. Of all the marketing tricks and packaging tactics of the beauty industry. We will all be tempted to give in to some of these fads once in a while.
Looking at the Philosophy shower range, it is difficult to resist paying a ridiculous dollop of money for a plastic bottle filled with fragrance enhanced soap. It's hard to forsake yummy names like "Gingerbread Man", "Frozen Lemon Custard", and "Waffle Cone" and the incredibly realistic scents of these soap products.
I haven't seen the entire range for sale in Australia, but here are some that I've seen around our shelves at MECCA Cosmetica:
This is by far the most popular flavour as shown by its rapid disappearance from the shelves. The rich chocolate aroma hits you like a punch out of the bottle. Obviously ideal if you want somebody to eat you up after your shower.
This is my favourite, I'd actually buy it if I'm crazy enough to spend $35 on soap. It smells like that thick shake you get from MacDonalds. Yummo.
The sales assistants claim this to be a favourite, I think it's revolting. Why would anyone want to put pumpkin pie on their wet naked bodies?
A fancy name for a Coconut oil shower gel. That's all I have to say.
Cute packaging, innovative concept, ridiculous idea! This is the newest addition to the shower range but haven't been gaining popularity. Maybe at Christmas.
I actually quite like this one. Warm and prickly, it smells like coming home. This one's very popular in America. What's with Americans and cinnamon?
I actually forgot what this one smells like, surely not egg nog. Very unmemorable.
Other than fathoming the idea of paying premium price for fragranced soap, these bottles actually make very fun and quirky gift ideas. Half of them don't smell too bad. But be warned; my friend's mother went to bed after using one of these, she smelt so delicious that a cockroach bit off part of her fingertip in her sleep. If they release a cheese flavoured one, I'm sure more than one rat would come-a-scurrying.
