Pout Lip Plump
My attention was brought back to the Pout Lip Plump after noticing that it has won the CEW beauty award for 2006. Immediately this jolted unpleasant memories a few months ago as their promotional staff (dressed in Mardi Gras gear) stopped my fellow shopper and I in the lingerie section at Myers. I was immediately enchanted by the packaging, which felt like firm, plump lips, which naturally means the product will make your lips feel like the packaging...right?
Upon application, the cool peppermint tingle and glossy finishing was a refreshing boost to my lips. Enquiring after the price, I learn that this lippie costs $45. With exfoliants to smooth and collagen boosters to enhance poutiness, this is a collagen injection in a tube.
It was not after 10 minutes that this product had hit me. When they said "bee-stung" effect, I didn't think they meant it literally. The tingles were getting extremely uncomfortable as I quickly rushed back to the office to wash off this travesty. The trouble was - the stinging remained. Lord knows how long I waited before my bruised mouth recovered.
Nowadays, the line between makeup as an enhancer for your face, and makeup that forcibly rearranges your cellular structure, is getting thinner and thinner. Ouch!
Last week I came across LipFusion (another CEW award winner), a delicious-smelling Lip Plumper with the technology to react with your own lip's moisture to make your lips swell up. I didn't have the courage to seek the effects of this one out. Maybe one day, after my scars have healed. Or maybe just tomorrow.

they should sell little bee stingers next. That'd work just as well.

LipFusion is a little more gentle, it just makes you a little uneasy when you can feel your lips turn into salamis.
