Reese Witherspoon has #1 hairstyle
April 3rd 2008 01:18
Reese Witherspoon has beaten the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Eva Longoria and Angelina Jolie to win the #1 fave celebrity hairstyle among Instyle’s thousands of avid readers – all because of the fringe that every hairstylist insists is a must-have.
Witherspoon’s fringe with its tapered ends falling softly around the eyebrows, gives her a ‘modern and edgy’ look, according to her own stylist, Mark Townsend who assures us that we can all adopt the same look with the following tips :
1. A blunt straight cut will only make your face look severe so get your hairdresser to create subtle layers at the end with the sides cut half an inch longer than the rest, allowing them to fall softly around the sides of the eyes.
2. To create volume, blow-dry the fringe with a round brush. Holding the brush horizontally, roll the fringe under the brush and pull toward the nose then, with the brush vertical, half-dry them towards the side.
3. Apply hairspray to an eyebrow brush then graze it over the fringe, making sure you brush toward the very end. This ensures the fringe stays in place while not making it look stiff, a result from applying hairspray directly to the fringe.
4. To prevent that straight, flat look, bend the ends of the fringe by using a domed flat iron half an inch from the roots and curling the iron towards the ends of the fringe.
5. Apply baby powder or talc through the fringe with your fingers. As the fringe sits on the skin, it may get a little oily throughout the day. Putting powder through the fringe will absorb the oil.

I'm getting my hair cut on the weekend, and you have just convinced me to try a fringe again! I KNOW I can't do it, but I'm going to, and I will look silly until it grows out and it's all your fault but I can't seem to help myself...! AAAAAAH!

But that's not going to stop me, because even though I KNOW better, you have convinced me it will work this time.
If it works, I'll post a pic, if not... just imagine a bantam rooster, in the eighties, after a fight with a jack russell dog.

Celebrity Obsession
My problem is that sometime during my hair cut I begin to believe that I'll actually look just like the celeb whose style I have stolen. I'm always disappointed to look in the mirror and discover I'm just me......but with better hair!

Kylie, I LOVED her hair in Sweet Home. That's actually the kind of hair I want but don't have the guts to do.
Morgan, really? I find it just the opposite. All I have to do is smooth it down - I don't even have to brush the rest of my hair and it looks fine. But you're right, having a stylist would definitely help!

Australia's Next sTrOpPy MODEL!
Reese's hairstyle looks gorgeous on her but it's very high maintenance hair. To look like that would take at least an hour. I have a hairdresser friend who tells me that only fiveheads and those with oval or heart shaped faces should get fringes.
