SK II Facial Treatment Cleanser Review
June 6th 2007 17:55
For a while, I had heard nothing but rave reviews about SK II. What apparently sets it apart from other beauty products, and probably the main reason for the high prices, is the main ingredient contained in all SK II products – Pitera – a clear, rich liquid naturally extracted during the sake fermentation process. It’s supposed to restore the ‘skin’s natural 28-day renewal cycle’ for a younger, more radiant-looking skin.
Well, I was sold! I went out and bought the Facial Treatment Cleanser. For a retail price of AUD$64.00 for a 120 gram tube, it’s a little pricier than what I would normally pay for a cleanser but that must mean it’s good, right? Right?
Hmm….
The cleanser forms a foamy, rich lather which is gentle but effectively removes all the dirt and impurities, leaving your skin soft and smooth. It contains whitening properties and, through prolonged use, helps to reduce occurences of pimples, blackheads and whiteheads.
Hmm…
VERDICT : This is probably the only cleanser I had used only three times before I finally threw it away. Immediately after rinsing the cleanser from my face, my skin felt dry and taut. Eight hours later, I actually grew pimples. Not little tiny bumps, mind you, but red, big hard pimples any adolescent would have been very proud to squirt. And they appeared on my nose and chin. If I had a broom and a pointed hat…
Having said that, I'm reluctant to give a rating on this product. Because of the Facial Treatment Cleanser, I realised that my skin is just not suited to foamy cleansers, despite what the salesladies say. Maybe if I had bought the Milk Cleanser instead, I might have had better results and I'd be raving along with everyone else about my non-existent pores and smooth, porcelain-looking skin. At the same time though, it’s made me wary enough not to risk parting with my money to buy any of the other high-priced SK II products.
RATING : N/A
