Kitter Litter Facials

At long last, there is another reason to wonder into your pet-care shopping aisle without the trouble of keeping a pooping cat. Kitty litter is now a skincare product, or always has been.

The wonders of kitty litter was first brought to public attention with the publication of The World's Best Kept Beauty Secrets: What Really Works in Beauty, Diet, and Fashion by Diane Irons. This former model has shared a fare portion of her industry experience in the form of DIY beauty tips. This included putting Hemorrhoid cream on your eye-bags to reduce puffiness, putting aspirin in your shampoo to reduce dandruff, and using mascara to touch-up your hair regrowth. The most bizarre yet useful tip would have to be using Kitter Litter as a facial mask.

Cat Lady
Apparently, this is a trick that Catherine Zeta Jones swears by. Now that makes it sound more plausible doesn't it....so if i put the cat toilet on my face, I look like Catherine Zeta Jones. Hey, I've fallen for more stupid fads, so this one sounds plausible. Diane Irons has excitedly quipped that she had bribed a spa employee to disclose to her this ancient beauty recipe, after seeing tons of kitty litter stored at her beauty spa. There is not much difference between the clay masks that they put on our faces in spas, and the stuff that cats poop on. Go figure!

Hello Kitty...
Other than the smell, I suppose here isn't really much harm in trying it out. Here's how you can make it into a facial mask:

- Kick a cat out of its litter box and take its litter, make sure there is no poop

- Blend litter into a fine powder with a grinder or just chew it

- Gradually add clean/filtered water and mix until you get a consistent paste

- Apply to face for about 10-15 minutes

- Rinse thoroughly to reveal slightly smelly but radiant skin!

The Aesop Skincare Range

May 11th 2006 00:04
This post will be devoted to the Aesop skincare range. Because it rocks.

Aesop is an Australian company that started in 1987 that specializes in skin/hair/body care products. They're distinguishable by their simplistic and homogenous packaging resembling medicine jars and bottles containing pleasant herbal aromas that shout: "Eat me, but read me first cos I look the same as everyone else"

Their products are botanical-based and contain very little chemical compounds and preservatives; they work in affinity with the skin's physiology and are usually very gentle and calming. These delicious goodies cater for a large range of skin-types, and with staff members so enthusiastic to shower newbies with samples, who wouldn't want these yummy freebies!

Here are some fab ones, see which one suits you!

For Normal / Combination, Sensitive Skin

Insert Title Here
Fabulous Facial Cleanser: Not only does this smell fantastic, it's also gentle on your skin, while giving it a thorough clean. Using an Olive-Flesh cleanser, it does it's job without stripping your skin of its natural moisture. This is also versatile as it suitable for skins on the oil and dry side.

Insert Title Here
Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Toner: This is the best toner I have ever tried. It's very gentle with calming, and ingredients such as blue chamomile, aloe vera, green tea, and parsley seed extracts; smells Divine! I'd recommend it for any skin type for those who prefer to use a toner. It's best to splash some onto clean hands and apply to cleansed face directly, it saves the toner from being sucked into cotton pads and wasted.

Mandarin Facial Hydrating Cream: Another delicious aroma in a jar. This cream might feel a little heavy when you first apply it, and it's more sticky that I would have preferred initially. It is absorbed quite quickly however, with its hazel base. It is suitable for those of us with oilier skin, and makes a great summer cream with its tangy citrus scent.

For Oily / Combination, Acne-prone Skin

Insert Title Here
Amazing Facial Cleanser: With crushed natural sea salt and mandarin peel to cleanse and disinfect skin, and lavender oil to heal and hydrate, this gentle low-foam cleanser is very effective on oily skin types. Use this cleanser with cool-lukewarm water as over-warm water makes oily skin freak out. Lather a little bit between your palms and apply.

Insert Title Here
Oil Free Facial Hydrating Serum: This moisturizer contains no oil, AND no water! It is concentrated in Aloe which is 8 times as moisturizing as water and leaves your skin hydrated yet squeaky! The only down side is that it doesn't smell as nice as the other ones, and can be sticky when you first apply it.

Insert Title Here
Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque: This little jar of goodness is the one I swear by. Ever since calming down my acne mayhem, applying it once in a while still works wonders for improving your skin, though it's not suppose to be a treatment for serious acne. This beauty contains kaolin to draw out impurities. It has the anti-microbial effects of lemon peel oil, grapefruit seed extract, and tea tree oil. This combined with the anti-fungal, degreasing effects of verbena oil, and skin regeneration effects of rosehip oil, makes a one-stop solution to temporary breakouts.

For Dry/Combination, Sensitive Skin

Insert Title Here
Purifying Facial Cream Cleanser: This cream is gentle and easy to use; being soluble in water. It also has fresh clay to soften and polish the skin. It's suitable for very dry and sensitive skin

Insert Title Here
Camelia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream: This cream is very gentle on very sensitive skin as it does not contain any artificial preservatives. Because of that, it should be kept in the fridge if it takes longer than 3 months to use up. This cream is extremely hydrating and can be absorbed very quickly.

For Stressed Skin

Insert Title Here
Primose Facial Hydrating Cream: Gives you skin a little boost when it's feeling worn down. It's suitable for all skin types actually, acting to hydrate, soften, and smooth the skin. It's a favourite among customers and contains skin goodies such as primrose and rosehip seed extracts which act as natural mediums for Vitamin C and E.

Aesop has over 50 products and I will develop reumatism if I list them all. They are currenly expanding and have already established a presence in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taipei; making a name for Aussies worldwide!

For more information, visit their website, or hop down to their counter at David Jones and get a heap of free yummy samples.

Drink for Shiny Skin!

Fruits and vegies are always good for skin, if we bother to eat them. When you do, try to eat their skins, except pineapple skins and other yucky ones. Peels protect fruit and keep them fresh. Eating peels makes your skin sorta like a nice peel; shiny and smooth.

Here are some beauty juices for your skin's wellbeing, some of them don't taste half bad:

Insert Title Here
Spankin' Carrot
Skin Juice

1 carrot
1/2 beetroot & tops
2 sticks celery & tops
1/2 cucumber
2 spinach or dandelion leaves
1 grapefruit or orange

Wash, trim, chop, and process in juicer. Dilute with water or ice lemon/honey tea if you like

Insert Title Here
Smooth and Shiny
Strawberry Treat

500g fresh strawberries
1 orange
3 fresh mint leaves

Wash, trim, chop, and process in juicer
Add some honey if you like, it makes it more spritzy

Insert Title Here
Tomato Mania
Tomatoe Cocktail

4 apples with peel
4 tomatoes with peel
2-3 fresh basil

This juice is especially therapeutic as fresh tomatoe juice has vitamin C and cleanses the liver, this is reflected in clearer, glowing skin. Apple juice also helps utiliise nutrients in other ingredients, and basil has a cleansing effect on the skin.

Or if you can't be bothered juicing, eating more of these ingredients in general will inevitably give you healthier skin. You'll glow like a halo.

Every beauty product with an alluring brand that resides behind the flash glam counter in your local department store, boutique, or salon, are insanely overpriced. It is an undisputed fact.

But they look so pretty. The temptation increases more during gift time. Before you know it, you'll be surviving on instant noodles but looking immaculate.

Aesop: OUT, DAMNED SPOTS! ! ! ! !

April 23rd 2006 08:35
WOKE UP SCREAMING......into the mirror.
As a female in the midst of my early-twenties, fate has ruthlessly bestowed unto me the hormonal imbalance that causes breakouts; rendering my appearance strikingly similar to that of a leper. Naturally, I exaggerate, but the trauma lingers on.
