The Aesop Skincare Range
May 11th 2006 00:04
This post will be devoted to the Aesop skincare range. Because it rocks.
Aesop is an Australian company that started in 1987 that specializes in skin/hair/body care products. They're distinguishable by their simplistic and homogenous packaging resembling medicine jars and bottles containing pleasant herbal aromas that shout: "Eat me, but read me first cos I look the same as everyone else"
Their products are botanical-based and contain very little chemical compounds and preservatives; they work in affinity with the skin's physiology and are usually very gentle and calming. These delicious goodies cater for a large range of skin-types, and with staff members so enthusiastic to shower newbies with samples, who wouldn't want these yummy freebies!
Here are some fab ones, see which one suits you!
For Normal / Combination, Sensitive Skin
Fabulous Facial Cleanser: Not only does this smell fantastic, it's also gentle on your skin, while giving it a thorough clean. Using an Olive-Flesh cleanser, it does it's job without stripping your skin of its natural moisture. This is also versatile as it suitable for skins on the oil and dry side.
Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Toner: This is the best toner I have ever tried. It's very gentle with calming, and ingredients such as blue chamomile, aloe vera, green tea, and parsley seed extracts; smells Divine! I'd recommend it for any skin type for those who prefer to use a toner. It's best to splash some onto clean hands and apply to cleansed face directly, it saves the toner from being sucked into cotton pads and wasted.
Mandarin Facial Hydrating Cream: Another delicious aroma in a jar. This cream might feel a little heavy when you first apply it, and it's more sticky that I would have preferred initially. It is absorbed quite quickly however, with its hazel base. It is suitable for those of us with oilier skin, and makes a great summer cream with its tangy citrus scent.
For Oily / Combination, Acne-prone Skin
Amazing Facial Cleanser: With crushed natural sea salt and mandarin peel to cleanse and disinfect skin, and lavender oil to heal and hydrate, this gentle low-foam cleanser is very effective on oily skin types. Use this cleanser with cool-lukewarm water as over-warm water makes oily skin freak out. Lather a little bit between your palms and apply.
Oil Free Facial Hydrating Serum: This moisturizer contains no oil, AND no water! It is concentrated in Aloe which is 8 times as moisturizing as water and leaves your skin hydrated yet squeaky! The only down side is that it doesn't smell as nice as the other ones, and can be sticky when you first apply it.
Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque: This little jar of goodness is the one I swear by. Ever since calming down my acne mayhem, applying it once in a while still works wonders for improving your skin, though it's not suppose to be a treatment for serious acne. This beauty contains kaolin to draw out impurities. It has the anti-microbial effects of lemon peel oil, grapefruit seed extract, and tea tree oil. This combined with the anti-fungal, degreasing effects of verbena oil, and skin regeneration effects of rosehip oil, makes a one-stop solution to temporary breakouts.
For Dry/Combination, Sensitive Skin
Purifying Facial Cream Cleanser: This cream is gentle and easy to use; being soluble in water. It also has fresh clay to soften and polish the skin. It's suitable for very dry and sensitive skin
Camelia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream: This cream is very gentle on very sensitive skin as it does not contain any artificial preservatives. Because of that, it should be kept in the fridge if it takes longer than 3 months to use up. This cream is extremely hydrating and can be absorbed very quickly.
For Stressed Skin
Primose Facial Hydrating Cream: Gives you skin a little boost when it's feeling worn down. It's suitable for all skin types actually, acting to hydrate, soften, and smooth the skin. It's a favourite among customers and contains skin goodies such as primrose and rosehip seed extracts which act as natural mediums for Vitamin C and E.
Aesop has over 50 products and I will develop reumatism if I list them all. They are currenly expanding and have already established a presence in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taipei; making a name for Aussies worldwide!
