Wanted : A damn good eye cream
August 9th 2007 01:14
Being of Asian descent, I was never endowed with lids you could freely apply any shade of eyeshadow to. But with the years passing, my eyelids have been getting heavier and heavier that I feel, within the next decade, they would droop right down to my line of vision and I would have to pry them up with a peg – or get plastic surgery. Nowadays, when I stare at someone, I make the conscious effort to raise my eyebrows slightly so I don’t look like I’m growling at them.
As for my eye bags, I’ve tried applying cold spoons to my puffy eyes, going so far as to use them while sitting at my work desk in the mornings, prompting colleagues to whisper “Is she alright?” to each other. I’ve done the cucumbers – and ate them in frustration afterwards. I was even tempted to try the haemorrhoid cream but scrapped that idea when I read it could be dangerous if you inadvertently rub your eyes anytime during the day.
In the past three years, I've tried different eye cream products – Olay, Clinique, Jurlique, Ella Bache, Loreal, Avon, the list goes on. Except for Loreal’s Revitalift (my eyebags only grew puffier, I had people asking me if I’d been crying all night) and Avon Anew Clinical Eye Lift (the gel for the top lid was so sticky, I got two eyelids everytime I blinked), none have shown any results. And I’m slowly starting to believe this salesclerk at David Jones who might have been drunk at the time she whispered to me, “None of these things really work, you know”.
But now, I’ve decided to jump back on the eye cream bandwagon. Surely, surely, there must be an eye cream out there that actually does what it’s supposed to? After browsing the net, I came across the Top Eye Wrinkle Creams Rated and Reviewed and here are their top 5 eye creams :
1. Athena 7 Minute Lift
2. Freeze 24/7
3. Alpha Derma CE
4. Deception Wrinkle Cream
5. Hydroderm Wrinkle Cream
But before I go out and buy any or all of these products in my desperate attempt to keep my sagging lids at bay, have any of you tried any of the above? And were you happy with the results? Alternatively, are there any other eye creams you’ve tried that you think have worked wonders?

Okay, I'm not high maintenance when it comes to my facial/body care routine but...I do have a thing about my eye area. ...I don't care about the smile wrinkles and all that...I just don't want lifestyle 'residue'.
I haven't used any of the Top 5 products listed above.
I've know that too!!...about the haemerrhoid cream... but, thing is, make-up artists will use this for a professional shoot only, if the model/subject has puffy eyes. Not recommended for 'civilians'!
So...to reduce morning puffiness, I rely on;
- used (and cooled!) green tea bags....or...
- Natio Eye Contour Treatment Gel with cornflower, chamomille, cucumber and calendula ( I guess all the C ingredients helps one see better??) RRP $15 from David Jones
Plus...lymphatic drainage massage.
Just pat around the eye area, starting from under the tear duct and all around the top, your view clockwise direction (so from tear duct to eyebrow...), then firmly but gently press the pressure point on the tear duct..and use the ring fingers as these don't apply as much pressure and therefore won't 'pull' the delicate eye area skin.
I swear I'm not obsessive!

Straight away.
If done the way it should be done.
...you can also combine the 2, squeeze the green tea onto a cotton pad and pat the eye area with it.
No harm in trying...the drainage pat dosn't cost you anything...just requires diligence.
Puffiness, is an indication of fluid retention...and eyes are also one of the first areas of the body to show dehydration....so water, water, water.

Haven't used any of the products on your list, but I do recommend the ASAP Advanced Eye Repair eye cream to reduce bags, wrinkles, puffiness etc.
Australian product and not too expensive too.
You can usually buy from your beauty therapists - but it's also at activeskin.com.au
Cheers

Yeah, Johnny Cash cream works-temporarily--as does hydroderm, but serious irritation if you rub your eyes at all!
